Film Review. The Kid

September 26th, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

Our class has recently reviewed the movie ‘The Kid’. We watched this family movie for an English assignment at school.

                  THE KID

TYPE OF FILM:
Family Movie

DESCRIBE THE CHARACTERS:
Russell- At first, Russell Duritz was mean, selfish image consultant but he turned out to be a really great and he had a professional, worth-while career and a family.
Rusty- Cute , loveable, chubby, loud, not afraid.
Amy- Nice, pretty, loving, caring, she married Russell.
Janet- Nice, funny, caring, secretary of Russell.
News Reporter- Chirpy, bouncy, happy, and her word is ya’ll.

THE STORY:
The movie is about a guy named Russell who is a rude image consultant. It is set in an airport, and he is impatiently waiting for a woman to purchase her food. He finally gives up on waiting and starts to complain, then eventually pays for the womans food himself.

He then sets off onto a plane and meets the news reporter, who asks him advice. He tells her straight up what she needs to fix.

When he arrives, he keeps seeing this little boy, who he thought was a hallucination (Russell even visited the psychiatrist) but he actually turned out to be alive, and appeared to be his 8-year-old younger “self”. Rusty needed to come back to see Russell and teach him a lesson to fix is life which would end up in a huge mess.

Through the movie, Rusty teaches him a lot of things, including how to treat a woman, how to live a real life, and how to become a nicer person. He goes through a lot at this time…will Russell end up in an even bigger mess, or turn over a fresh new leaf??? Watch ‘The Kid’ to find out!!

I give this movie a 7 out of 10. Not my favourite but a good movie. *A decent night out, 3 stars*.

Bring It On; All Or Nothing

September 22nd, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

I recently watched Bring It On All Or Nothing. I watched it because we rented it out from the video store and I was bored on Saturday afternoon.

It was about a girl who was really pretty with blonde hair and she was the captain of her cheerleading group. She was going to audition to perform in Rihanna’s upcoming video clip, Pon De Replay. But her dad got a job and they had to move to a small town full of black people, and she is white. She doesn’t fit in at all, and then she has to prove herself to the bitchy captain Solange Knowles who’s name in the movie is Camille of her cheerleading group. All sorts of things start happening and fights rise..

The best bit was the final dance-off at the very end, where the Camille’s team and the girl’s old team from her old school were competing with each other.

There was no bad bits because it was the best one out of Bring It On, Bring It On Again and this one.

I give it a 9 out of 10 and I recommend this for anyone!

Apple iPod Services

September 15th, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

I read the ’Apple adds films to iTunes service’ article in the newspaper. It is about the new version of iPod Shuffles recently released in the shops of America, soon to be internationally.

I think it is really small and they claim it is ‘little bigger than a postage stamp’. It’s even got movie’s to watch which start at US$9.99 to watch on it, which I think is good. So this means you can go and buy movies from the iTunes music store! I think its good and soon iPods will be in everyones homes.

Little Man

September 15th, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

A while ago i viewed the movie Little Man. I watched it because it was Tara and Shirley’s birthday party surprise which about 20 people went to.

There were no good bits because I hated it so much it was really boring.

The bad bits were everything because it was really bad.

I recommend this to childish-type people who like stupid movies and bad acting!! I give it a 0.5 out of 10. It was bad!!!

It was about a midget and his friend who stole a diamond, then they had to escape from the police people so they put it in a womans handbag. After realising what they had done, they made up a plan to get the diamond back. This was by dressing up as a baby and being put on the porch so the woman would take the baby (midget) in so he could get the diamond back. He was in the house and was about to get it when the grandpa came into the room. In the end they turned in the diamond, and they revealed the truth about what the midget was, and he had parents too. They were all friends.

When A Stranger Calls

September 8th, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

I recently reviewed the movie ‘When A Stranger Calls’. I chose to view it because I didn’t get the chance to see it at the movies and I loved the look of the ad on T.V.

It was about a girl named Jill, who was invited to a a bonfire with all her friends from school, but she got grounded and then had to babysit two little kids while their parents went out. When she got there she realised it was a beautiful house, and the house was really cool, I loved the look of it and the things inside it. The fridge was fully stocked, the kids were asleep and the security alarm was armed and set. Soon after everything settled in and she had explored everything around the house, someone was ringing the phone. She answered it the first time and they hung up, then her friends rang and her best friend that had just betrayed her (Tiffany) showed up. They were fighting and then Tiffany left. But the calls were getting worse and they wouldn’t stop ringing, then someone talked and asked if Jill had ‘checked the children’. She went up there and they were asleep, then she came back down into the bathroom when the phone rang again, and she turned around and Tiffany was dead on the floor! After lots of calls Jill decided to ring the police up and they were tracing where the calls came from.

She went upstairs and the kids went missing then she finally found them screaming locked up in the smallish toybox. They rang the parents and there was no answer, and nobody was answering their phones. When they were led into the avery and fishpond room, the police rang and said the calls were coming from inside the house!

When the stranger was following them all around the room, the kids ran and Jill jumped under the water, to find the maid Rosa, dead as well. The stranger tried to strangle Jill, and then the police came and he got caught, then everything was safe and back to normal, but Jill will be permanently scarred.

The best bit was when she got really scared and she turned around and a dark coat was hanging there although Jill thought it was the stranger, but then Tiffany was dead when she turned around.

There was NO bad bits because it was the best movie I have ever seen!

I rate it a 10 out of 10 and bonus points because now it is my favourite movie, and I recommend this for people over the age of 12.

Goliath The Camel

September 1st, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

I recently reviewed a magazine article from Who. I viewed it because someone showed it to me to read.

It was about an unfortunate camel who had lost both of its front hooves by stepping in lots of boiling hot ashes. The owner, from Germany, felt very sorry for his camel Goliath because the camel didn’t seem to have the energy to eat or get up off the floor. The owner named Jeorg decided to go to a special shoe store that caters for feet up to any size, but his largest shoe size he has ever made was size 62. The shoe specialist sized up Goliath to get the right size shoe for him, and a couple of days later, he came and put the shoes on the camel. A few days later, Goliath was up and normal again, walking around as good as new. Goliath loved walking in his new shoes and has never been better, says his owner Jeorg.

The best bit was when Goliath finally had the strength to get up and walk around, and the worst bit was when I read that the poor animal had burnt his two front feet off, it was sad.

My overall opinion is for anybody to read it and I give it a 10 out of 10 for a happy ending and good story.

Celebrity Survivor

August 25th, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

I chose to view the T.V show ‘Celebrity Survivor’ because the advertisement was interesting and looked funny.

It was only the first episode so it was mainly introducing the team and team members. There are 2 teams named “Moso”, which are the girls, and “Kakula”, which are the boys. They have to participate in a range of brutal activities and live without fresh water, yummy foods and 5 star accomodation, which the stars are used to. When they got down to the final challenge they play to win a prize which grants immunity for the tribe. The tribe who didn’t win (Team Moso) had to vote a player out of their tribe. At the end, every single player voted out Kym Johnson, and her torch fire got burnt out and she left.

The best bit was when they were all getting annoyed with each other and they don’t stop fighting, and the worst bit was when Fiona Horne (who I think is the worst) wouldn’t stop raving on about how other players weren’t meeting to her high standards and she was saying things about voting people off thinking she was the leader and the boss of everyone, and she thought she was the best. But Imogen Bailey ended up not liking her and she is devising a plan to get the tribe together and fix up Fiona’s bad attitude.

My overall opinion was it was good for a T.V show, but its not my favourite show, but my recommendation is for anyone who likes a good entertaining reality T.V show. I rate it as a 7.5/10.

Finale of Desperate Housewives

July 31st, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

I chose to view the T.V show Desperate Housewives, the Finale! I chose to view it because it’s my favourite television show.

It was about a number of things on the different housewives, who were Bree Vanderkamp, Gabrielle Solis, Susan Mayer, Lynnette Scavo, Mary-Alice Young (who is dead) and Edie Britt. Gabrielle was spying on Carlos her husband and her maid Chaio-Mei, because she suspected he was cheating on her with the maid. Bree had to make her great escape from the Psych Ward, and she did. It was all because of her daughter, Danielle, who was with a murderer alone. In the end, the murderer (Matthew) was going to shoot Bree because she wouldn’t let them out of the door, but just as he was about to pull the trigger, the police (who the mother, Betty had rang up to capture) shot him in the chest, and he died. Lynnette met the mother of her husband Tom’s 11-year-old child, and they didn’t get along, ending up yelling really loudly at each other over child support in a restaurant. Susan was getting together a dinner for Mike, who she was going to propose to, but he got ran over by Orson, a crazy dentist in love with Bree, and Susan was left alone waiting for him to arrive, but he never did because he was unconscious on the road.

The best bit was everything because it was put together really well, and there was no bad bits in the episode, it was the best yet!

I loved the episode and I recommend it for people from my age up because it’s rated M15+. My rating was 10 out of 10 because I loved it!

Magazine Advertisement Magazine Advertisement

July 24th, 2006 by 06michellef in Uncategorized · No Comments

The first thing I notcied about the ad was that it was about netball and cheese.

I think it would appeal to people in their twenties or parents with young kids and teenagers, but probably most to females, because nearly all the guys don’t like netball, so it wouldn’t be appealing as much to females as males. It would suit people with interests like netball, and cheese, and people that are into trying different types of tastes like shredded, _% less fat or diet, slices and tasty cheese by Beqa.

The purpose of the ad is to sell their products and promote their brand name and slogan, which is ‘Beqa; Shoot For The Winning Taste’!

It tries to persuade everyone by having a famous Netball player Michelle Fielke who is the captain of the Australian netball team. Then they continue to advertise by saying she doesn’t have to sacrifice taste to maintain a healthy balanced diet, so she chooses Beqa So-Light which is 25% fat reduced and higher in calcium.

It didn’t really appeal to me that much because I didn’t think it was for my age group, and it didn’t have enough bright colours. It did catch my attention a little bit because I love netball!
